Trying hard to be a responsible citizen

You see I want to be called “responsible”. I want to register to vote for the 2010 elections. I want to earn the right to complain about the government. I have never voted, not even for small-time elections (mayoral or senatorial), so my opinions about politics or the government are usually kept to myself. But…

I seriously have no idea who to vote. There are so many candidates: from Villar, to Binay, to Noynoy, to the “comeback kings” ERAP and Eddie Villanueva. My real problem is that I cannot find one candidate that I truly believe in. Not one.

This year on my birthday, I made a promise to myself: I will never settle. Never. Not in any area of my life. The same promise applies to my duties as a Filipino citizen - I would not want to settle for the “lesser evil”. That would be me eating my words - not a way to live. No. My vote is much too valuable to waste on a patronizing power-hungry SOB who exploits the masses and steals my hard-earned meager salary.

Go ahead, call me an idealist - I’m proud that I am.
